No Monitor Shutdown.

I`ve recently built myself a new system, including a ECS K7S5A mainboard and running windows XP pro, the problem is everytime I shutdown my system the monitor stays powered up. I`m not sure if this is a problem with my bios or XP. I`d appreciate any advice, This is really starting to bug me...

the monitor probably does not power down as it has its own plug drawing power from the mains

if it was drawing power from ur psu then it would have to power down when u shut off ur pc

No the monitor uses the psu in my tower, and used to switch off fine before I upgraded and changed my motherboard and CPU..

I didn't actually know that monitors powered down automatically.
I've got a sony trinitron and that doesn't turn itself off when i shut down. I have to actually press the button myself.
I bought a couple of lcd screens the other day and they did eaxctly the same.
In fact i've never had or seen a monitor that powered down completely when pc powers down and i've been through quite a few.

Do you mean that the light on the monitor stays on when you shut down or that there's some kind of remenant image.(power saving mode active or no image prersent)
??

The monitor doesn't power down at all with an ATX PSU (or if it's independently powered) - it just goes into low power standby mode. You have to physically switch the thing off to power it down. Only with AT power supplies does the monitor power down completely (if it's hooked up of course).
