I apologise if I am telling you something you know already, but - pace those rumours a few months ago that AOL would be making Netscape it's browser instead of I.E., I have received a letter this morning from AOL telling me that Netscape is closing down.
Every cloud has a silver lining (so they say), and for anyone who has been a Netscape customer AOL are offering three months free membership to anyone who applies, to ''wean them off' Netscape. Details from special AOL number 0800 923 0009

This only refers to the NetscapeOnline ISP service my friend - not the browser itself (version 7 of that has just hit the streets). My first ever home link to the net came through them (as did my sister's), so I'm sorry to see it go - suffice to say though that I won't be taking up the free trial offer

I'm genuinely glad to hear that - the letter didn't make that clear. It is good that Microsoft can't destroy everything in it's path.
