Very many thanks for the prize for the letter I wrote and which appeared in this weeks issue. It was a great surprise!.
I have to report that AOL never did get back to me regarding the very graphic email on bestiality that I received, and I have now cancelled my subscription with them.
Cheers, Alan

not that im saying that ur wrong in any way but i work on an isp desk. what u were asking aol to do is a very hard process if you want a result straight away.
its nigh on impossible to filter all email of the sort out m8
it is annoying tho true
i just spam em back with 125,000 emails to see how they like it
only get 3 or 4 a day now down from 30-40

I agree Steve that it is difficult to police the net, but in this particular case, the sender of this obnoxious muck (about nbestiality!) was an AOL customer - the suffix aol.com was there for all to see.I do agree it is so easy to sign on with a fictious screen name - AOL allows you to create up to 7, I think, but I frankly suspect the reason why AOL doesn't do very much about it is commercial - if they were to boot the subscriber off thier service that would cost them money.
I think it would be a good idea (and I am not just talking about AOL) is that each customer only be allowed one screen name - after all, they take your bank card details, unique to you, so one identity unique to the user should be the rule, if people can't behave themselves.
What made my embarrrassment complete was that when I received this particular email I was in the middle of showing a (female) neighbour how to use the internet: I hate to think what she went and told other neighbours - she probably has me down as a pervert!

Hello Simon, Sorry to have taken so long to get back, but my PC at home has gone wrong (must be the shock of all those emails!) and I am having to use the facilities of our public library, which does not allow email facilities. My address is: 7 Marlowe Close Ilford Essex IG6 2LP.

lol i know what u mean
what sort of connection do you have?
if u wanna email me i can show u how to get even if u like?
the @aol can be duplicated very easily though as an smtp server has no authentication on it at all
if i was so inclined i could quite easily spoof an email adress and ruin someones life

Terrible Trauma of the Infamous Micromart Letter Writer.
Thank you Mr Ed, I think?, for printing 2 of my missives in Issue 703 and awarding me "a bumper prize of software from Focus Multimedia" which hasn't so far materialized! I guess there is time.
I hadn't had time to look at my copy of Micromart when I went to the pub last Thursday evening. My entry was greeted by a thunderous cheer from the motley collection of tech-heads, gamers, anoraks, geeks and purveyors of dodgy CDs which pass for the drinking classes in this part of North West Lincolnshire.
Instinctively I took the following defensive action:
1. Checked my zip, (1 millionth sec)
2. Checked I hadn't knocked over any glasses, (2 secs)
3. Checked a stripping policewoman wasn't about to apprehend me from the rear! (long suspicious look at several cheeky girls).
Finally the mob enlightened me. Thanks anyway.
