In issue 705, news and views you asked if anyone was infected with Gator and if they managed to uninstall it successfully, I have been infected about three times now and all I do is visit www.lavasoftusa.com, download Ad-Aware 5.83. This will scan your drives and list all devious files for you to check and uninstall. It has worked everytime for me.
I still haven't found a way to keep it off yet.

Great magazine, never miss it. Keep up the good work

In reply to Oldhippy I also think that the ad--aware program is vital.
I have suffered from a lot of illegal errors which when clicked off threw me of the Internet. I had tried three of the on-line troubleshooting sites but none managed to help me get rid of the problem. I just learned to live with it, until now. I downloaded the update for MMjukebox(which I use a lot) and when I tried to install it I got one of those file missing messages and the install was terminated. I tried contacting MM but they didn't know why I was experiencing trouble. It was at this time that a new error message kept cropping up when I was on the Internet. Titled Mmod it popped up everytime I clicked to change a page or task. Unlike the other messages this one did not throw me back to the desktop when clicked off, but it was a real nuisance all the same since I couldn't continue with what I was doing until it was clicked off. Since I could not get any help from technical support I typed 'Mmod' into the google search bar. I was taken to a site which told me that Mmod.exe was connected to Ezula spyware and suggested I got to www.lavasoftusa.com and download Ad-aware. After installing and running the program it came up with a long list of Ezula, Hotbar and Gator files. After killing all these files I now have a well behaved computer . Gator at least shows itself but Ezula is much more sinister. I had no idea it was on my machine. It may be worthwhile for many other users to download Ad-aware, especially if they are experiencing lots of illegal errors or even unexplained crashes.
