"Charging customers full price for the product and then trying to push targeted adverts on them is just plain greedy and shows utter contempt for the people who keep the software house in business."

Although most of what you say Jason is reasoned and well balanced I always have great difficulty with statements like that, can you name any other business that does not operate in this way? there is only one function for any business-to make money by any means necessary (legally??? of course).

There are plenty of games for the same price that don't do this. Those companies have priced the product at a point that allows them to make what they deem to be an acceptable profit. So any company that charges the same amount and then tries to add on some more via questionable means is overstepping the mark. It doesn't surprise me at all, though, frankly. For some years I've thought of the EA logo on a game as a warning sticker.

Snap. The only thing I buy them for is Battlefield. The rest of their portfolio is crap!

Cheers,
Tom
