wow, those games bring back memories.... Repton rocks.... Had the whole set. and Elite, wow, that game was impossible to play when I had a BBC.... But on the PC at the time I had it sussed out, had the best ship, loaded up to it's eye balls....  ( wouldn't have happened if I didn't get the hint, of buying sertain goods and fly back 'n' forth the whole of the day to gain huge profits. at the end it was worth it

Now where to get the games and the emulator... No idea, try Goole and type BBC Emulators and games, you might have some luck there

Elite came out on the CPC too - Amstrad Action had the full game on one of their covertapes.
Never got into it though.

Yeah, I couldn't get my head around the game...... Every time I play it, it was short lived as I exit hyprospace ( or somethin' ) I get blasted by another ship..... everytime, and then I said...... hell with this, and ever since, collected dust. lol

You don't need an emulator, just BBC Basic:

Elite was also released on PC, I have a copy I downloaded somewhere on CD, plus Elite 2 and Frontier.
Cannot remember where I got it but try googling 'Elite PC game' and you should find it.

David Braben's company Frontier Developments has released, Elite, Frontier, and First Encounters as shareware (jolly good of them):

http://www.frontier.co.uk/resume.html
which links to:
http://www.eliteclub.co.uk/download/
...which is the DOS versions, to run First Encounters natively in Windows you'll want to Google for JJFFE

I've played original Elite on many machines and found it most enjoyable on the BBC Micro - It was an amazingly good game, I would sometimes play all day on it when I was a kid. And when you consider the hardware it was running on (1Mhz 8-bit 6502 CPU, 32Kb RAM), it really was remarkable, and no you can't run it in BBC BASIC, because it was written in 6502 assembly (duh!)...

ZX81, Spectrum, HX20, BBC Micro, A500, A1200(25Mhz '030, 2GB HD), RiscPC (SA), Mac Mini G4, Athlon XP2500 (ATI X800)
