Hi all,
I've just bought a 2nd user skt370 Gigabyte GA 6xx7b 4x motherboard from a show (for £20) and when I got it home I noticed one of the heatsink retention lugs has been snapped off.
Can anyone help me regarding a repair ? The board has a warranty, but I would like to keep the board if possible.
cheers
Gary

does the board have 4 holes in the board around the CPU?
If so then buy a heatsink that fits that

No, no holes around the cpu, but there is a lug left on that side of the socket.
Can you buy heatsinks with offset clips ?

I've seen sckt a heatsinks with a bar and 3 holes for lugs (most sckt a, if not all, mobo's have 3 lugs on the side which you have to force down). So if your sckt370 has 2 lugs remaining you could possibly try one of these (anyone: do sckta heatsinks fit on sckt370????) if youve only got one left on one side I would take the board back. But you could possibly buy some thermal epoxy which will actually glue the heatsink to the cpu (overclockers.co.uk sell it) but best bet: take it back.....

I have seen skt 5/7 heatsinks which used the diagonally opposing lugs so they do exist. Maybe worth emailing heatsink co's to see if they have any.
