hi, thanks for looking.
The wireless router has been working for ages now, but a few days ago it.. stopped. By the way I am connected to virgin.
I didn't want to reset everthing back to factory unless i have to.
So I tried switching off cable box and the router. Then powering on the cable box and 2 mins later the router. It didn't work.
However when I connect the cable to the router, through the modem port..the wireless works again...not in the ports marked 1 to 4, but I am sure this is not right, i thought the modem port was for setting up the computer!
Any ideas would be greatfully received.
thanks again,

Hello 'I'm new here thanks'
I think you'll find the 'modem' port is the right one to use with the yellow cable to connect to the Virgin cable box which is the 'modem' in question.
If it's like mine it'll be a little black Scientific-Atlanta WebSTAR with several green lights if all's well and you can access it from your browser via it's router-separate address to get status and cable signal quality information.
My little wireless router is a Belkin F5D7230-4 6000 whose Firmware Version can be seen via its own browser status window, in the unlikely event that it's a Firmware problem.
Mine is a tad temperamental and Belkin support staff are pretty ineffective in helping to sort it.
They don't even seem to know the difference between versions of the router.
My problem is that setting its password gives it apoplexy, so I don't set one.
