The only marketing I've seen is online banner ads and on O2's site. I've been told that they are running t.v. ads but I haven't seen one yet.

I think, as I've stated before, the reason why not many people have bought it is because it has a few downsides. the UK public are somewhat more demanding of mobile handsets and data services. Whilst GPRS is acceptable over the pond it isn't the case in Europe. The fact that EDGE service (with theoretical data speed of 384Kb/s) only extends to around 30% of the population in the UK (mainly towns & cities). Normal GPRS is OK for emails but nothing much else (except maybe MMS messages) - it is too slow for serious surfing. I wouldn't want to pay top dollar for something that cannot surf/use IP services as quickly as my Orange SPV phone which was essentially free.

To me it represents poor value cos even if it were 3G enabled that service isn't available in my area.As for the WiFi again OK in urban area hotspots but no use in my country village unless at home. Even my local pub hasn't got WiFi!

But I am sure sales will increase as it becomes 3G enabled, sometime around next May according to the Apple rumour mill. Also, the developer SDK so apps can be written for the iPhone isn't due until Feb and it may restrict what can be written for it.

So for those that have bought one, enjoy what it has to offer. Certainly the same apps that are on the iPod Touch are great and the touch screen is a killer addition. But until iPhone matures my pennies are staying in the wallet......

BigAlbie (24/11/2007)If it was 3G plus had usual Bluetooth/MMS/SMS features I'd consider paying £250 ish for an un-locked one.

That's about my limit too. I'd never pay more than that for a mobile phone.
