An item rising in popularity and dropping in price, with a proliferation of products.

Sadly, as usual, information about resolution, etc is often limited.

As an example, I want to buy one of these for my wife, it should be wall mountable , sharp enough, and if possible, play MP3s

The screen resolution is the least of your worries, for the location you are intending it you should be looking at these features first.
  • On board Memory.
  • Make sure it has sufficient to hold the music/pictures, some come with very little
  • Power type.
  • Your putting it on the wall, so ensure that it has an alternate to direct adaptor plug-in
  • Input methods
  • You need to easily get the media onto it, so look at wireless access or if cost is too much make sure its card readers etc. are compatible with your equipment.
  • Size.
  • On the wall, I would expect anything less than 10" would look silly.

Well, actually, I picked one up from Macro for £70inc vat.
LinX 8" screen 720X480, built in Li-ion battery, remote, plays music, pics, video, takes standard SD cards.
Video and audio out too.

It will be going on the Kitchen wall, as we have a HTPC screen in the living room, and our PCs have slideshow wallpaper.
And it will match, because by the look of it, it runs Linux too!
