| I think its a good idea to do a virus article again. Why, well because of trojan banker for one, which will spy on your log in and pass words etc especially to your internet bank accounts.. There was a thread on the forum about monies going missing out of accounts etc. probs victims of the banker and ineffective anti virus sfotware. Looks like AVG are back on form. But it just goes to show that anti virus software needs some kinda future proofing or to be be just effective at the time.

| An article explaining how these things usually enter a system and propagate with how to best prevent it without anti-malware software may be worthwhile. Anti-malware software is only a last line of defence; people should understand that configuring their system and changing their bad habits should be of primary importance, leaving anti-malware products only to fill possible gaps. People seem to be crying about their software not detecting or cleaning malware correctly, but all they've done to hopefully prevent it is to install a shed load of anti-malware products as their first and only line of defence. The fact is that no Anti-malware product is 100% efficient, so it really doesn't matter too much which you use. Most will update regularly and scan automatically; the majority will autoclean or quarantine and many will have some kind of guard monitoring process. Just get something which isn't particularly resource hungry, looks good to you, doesn't overburden you with to many pop-ups and isn't pre-configured to allow or exclude things without checking with you first. I've mentioned this several times before, but I'm running an XP Pro SP2 system fully updated as an Administrator but with no anti-malware software at all installed.
I simply run a few standalone checkers every month or so as a quick verification.

Interestingly I read yesterday that Microsoft are going to be making some of their security patches are worms or viruses. This way vulnerable systems will "catch" this virus and then be slightly more secure. How exactly they get around the issue of doing it with no ones consent is untold though.
