Hi
Has anybody come across this problem.

When I try to connect to my router using the Intel ProSet Wireless s/w I get a message displayed 'Problem applying Profile'.
I have to reboot my laptop sometimes several times before I can connect ok.
To try and fix the problem:
The system has had the hard disk reformatted and all s/w re-installed.
I have tried resetting the router a few times but still get the same error msg.

The connection works on the ethernet cable.
And up till this weekend if I left the system connected to the router when I shut the system down then the system would automatically connect however today I found the system had disconnected and I had to manually reconnect and as I has the same msg 'Problem applying Profile' I had to reboot a few times before the connection would work.
The router is a Netgear DG834G, the system is running Windows XP os, the wireless is Intel Pro WLAN 3945 Internal Wireless (802.11a/b/g 54Mbps) for Core 2 Duo Processors.
Up until last Nov/Dec 07 I used to manually connect and disconnect from the router without a problem. I have not downloaded or installed anything to cause the problem it just stopped working properly.
Now I'm also concerned if the system is going to disconnect on shutdown how I get the connection to the router working when I reboot.
I've been advised to keep router on at all times which I do. And advised to stay connected to router at all times which I have done so but today found it had disconnected itself.
When I get connected to the router it all appears to be working ok on the internet except for a few more page errors loading or not found.

If anyone has any helpful ideas that can help me resolve my wireless connection issues I would appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks

We have a bit of an issue with our dell laptops at work and I think they have very similar wifi cards, whenever I buy some in for users the first thing i do is remove the dreadful proprietry software and install the driver only for the card. then windows can quite happily manage the wifi without any further problems.l

I agree with Dale, it's a lot better when Windows Zero Config can handle the connection.
