I have a sony DV digital camera that takes dv cassets. I have a TV card which i need the drivers for for WINxp, but thats a different story, I want to rip films from my camera onto my PC, i have a decent pc so i am confident that it is capable of handeling high quality video streams and recording them but my problem is getting it form camera to PC. I dont want to use my TV card and i was hoping to use Firewire. This camera has most of the normal video sockets (well, what i consider normal - RGB, video and audio etc) and i wanted to know if there is ANY way of connecting it to my PC and if so what do i need, if anyone could help me i would be VERY grateful

there are no stupid questions, just stupid people!

Have to be brutally honest and say I know next to nothing about this subject - however a good place to go looking for assistance is www.simplydv.com . One of our regulars (Alan aka Floandal) helps moderate the BBS there, and from what I've seen of the place, it looks to have answers to many of your queries......

I have a JVC Mini DV digital camera and I can transfer data from the camera to the computer via the Firewire card I have installed. I just plug the lead into the DV out socket on the camera and hey presto. Of course you need some software installed to load it to. I assume your camera has the DV out facility as most do.
