I have a Netgear Modem/Router with two PC's and a new laptop connected. Suddenly today my main PC won't connect. The router is OK as I have swapped the cables round and all 4 ports work.

I have disabled Zonealarm and Windows XP firewall, and tried using Windows to 'repair' the connection. Still refuses and now I'm stuck for idea's. I realy need to get on tonight, so any help appreciated.

I've tried IE and Firefox and can't get emails either.

I've just had to deal with a piece of malware on a customers PC that did exactely the same.
However it's worth doing some basic tests before panicing

From a command prompt type ipconfig /all and paste the results here.

I downloaded a little program called 'WinsockxpFix.exe' and it's worked a treat, can now get on internet no problem.

BTW typing in ipconfig / all opened a DOS window for less than a second then dissappeared.

Cheers

That's interesting as I have loads of trouble with my router (connections) but that's often on both rigs,  I will try the Fix.
