I read somewhere that you can over clock amd cpu`s by joining two dots on the cpu with a pencil can it be done with a 2.4xp and which 2 dots are they also what would I expect to get I have 512 mb ram 266 fsb Thanks Phill
The pencil trick used to work with old Duron's but more powerful chips required a silver conductive pen to do it. Other mods can be connecting 4 pins on the cpu with copper, or there is a device you can buy that fits between the cpu and socket to do the same. However, if you have a modern board you shouldnt need to do that - most have features within BIOS to allow the multiplier to be changed. Depending on the architecture of that cpu depends on what speed you could theoretically get - im guessing its a TBred B core? If so then i think you might get it up to XP2600 or XP2800 (i think the 2800 was the last tbredB - cant remember, if not then 2600). This is also reliant on decent cooling, psu and a board with overclocking options
