Double up on the RAM, and that'll be a fantastic semi-retro machine!
Look through the 3 for £10 range next time you're in Game and you'll see what I mean

Good idea Tippon, and reason I wanted to keep it going originally was the fact that my scanner (Scanmagic 600CU) has no winXP drivers available, but works fine with 98SE, also some of the games I already have are 95/98 only, and worth having another go on them. Having 4 x 512MB corsair DDR 400 spare now also from another system, have already installed in this old beast, just haven't updated my sigs yet. That was one reason couldn't understand why it was slow, at the limit for 98. Got a strange one on going back to this, prior to getting it working, crashed completely on bootup, complaining about something to do with the graphics card and blank screen. Nothing seemed to get the screen back, so used the adapter on the DVI connector, got a screen then message during boot of severe memory shortage (512MB).....whaaat!!...
deleted the Nvidia drivers from safe mode, booted normal mode then re-installed drivers....and since then all seems OK. All good fun........

Is it just the 512Mb you have in there now? If you've got more than that, Windows 98 can give out of memory errors.

Yeah, just the 512MB, Tippon, though have had 768MB running before on a computer with Win98SE without problems and found it was mostly games that complained/wouldn't work. In fact one game had to drop back to 256MB or wouldn't even run.....
