As an Ex-Amiga 500 owner, I do have soft spot for it but the circumstances facing the Amiga at the moment are kind of very confusing and I'm often left seriously puzzled by what I've read in this section. In that the Amiga in 2008 represents a really small user base, I do agree that there is a lot of merit in doing something like an "alternative" feature instead. The retro computers of which the Amiga is one, do deserve coverage so maybe this whole angle should be totally re-packaged but a weekly column for the Amiga alone isn't justified.

| Just my 2 penneth worth, here. I, too used to own an Amiga. It started out as an A1200 with a 10Mb HDD (no that's not a typing error!) and ended up as a kind of Franken-Miga in a full tower case, with P/S2 keyboard, Blizzard '040 expansion, Blizzard SCSI, 48Mb Fast Ram, Kickstart 3.6, Surf Squirrel (because the Blizzard wouldn't recognise ejectable SCSI media) and a nightmare of homemade SCSI data cabling inside. I've also seen the Amiga Rise, fall, fall and further fall through messageboards such as MooBunny and Amiga News Network. So . . . while I appreciate the coverage of Amiga news in Micro Mart, and believe that it contributes to the magazines sense of identity greatly, I feel it's time to fold it into an "Alternative O/S" page that covers other operating systems that are out there and may, like AmigaOS "hanging on by the skin of their teeth". Some suggestions would be RiscOS, Ataris O/S, Haiku, QNX, the various BSD's etc. By "bundling together" the alt.OSes maybe a bigger space could be allocated on a weekly basis, with the "OS du jour" rotating on a schedule, or as news becomes available. I think it would fill a useful gap between the magazines great coverage of the cutting edge and retro sides to computing. Anyway, just my opinion.

I thought Amiga Mart has been saved, it is in edition 1001 after all? I feel sorry for poor old Vic-20 Mart, nobody ever worried when that section was brought to a close, so why worry about Amiga Mart?
3.5 is enough for most people, well unless err, we're not talking about Vic-20's.
