Seems people are painting the bridges. So it may not be possable to wire trick the socket. Check out this dude. Hes doing exactly what you are a thinking. http://www.unixgods.org/~tilo/Do-it-yourself-dual-XP2800-workstation.html Pete
Thanks Peter, it looks as though the nail varnish(!) and conductive paint trick is still the way to go for that. I mentioned it because whovever it was in the magazine who recently reviewed tne 1.6GHz Duron and the latest XP2400 Athlon concluded the review by mentioning that a dual XP2400 set up would make a good little number cruncher. I wonder if he was aware of this procedure? Sadly my spare Tyan Thunder K7 motherboard got called up for replacement duties, so I won't have any excuse to go and buy nail polish (or XP athlons)...
Thats a shame. Its good fun to mod amd cpu's. You never really know what will happen when you finally insert the cpu and turn the machine on!! Actually i have never had any problems with the modding but there is always a first Pete p.s. you know the durons can be modded aswell. You can reactivate the other 256 level 2 cache, making the duron into a full xp!. Hmmm....maybe my next project.
