Mine is a B3 stepping (10Watts more if I remember rightly) stock speed 2.4GHz and Arctic Freezer 7 Pro
ASUS probeII reports 37 idle, 49 load
CoreTemp 0.99 Tj.Max 100

40 41 41 42 idle
62 61 57 58 load

Very hot. I think (as I didnt cut off part of the northbridge cooler on my Mobo) that the HS isn't properly set on the CPU. When i get some free time, I'm going to reseat it with AS5, remove the offending part of the NB and then overclock it until it gets back to these temps.

EDIT: i'm also on the 3rd floor of a apartment building, and have had a t-shirt on all winter, so it's hot ambient temps as well up here.
Speedstep isn't enabled. that will be rectified in due course

O/Cing to 2.66GHz, no changes, temps
59 57 54 52 load
well thats funny isn't it. lower temps when O/Cing!

My procesor runs at about 50Deg on Idle (according to coretemp), seems a bit hot to me as a lot of you folks are reporting similar temps under load for far superior processors. I've got a huge heatsink and fan on it, any ideas people? Cooler is a Zalman Aero Flower http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?ZAL-9500AM

Kind regards, John.

You have to take into account the ambient temp of the room too. It could be that your house is warmer than theirs. Does your case have good unobstructed airflow?

I admit the case is far from as good as it could be, it drops about 5 degrees with the case side off. Serves me right for using a £15 case I guess.... :S

With 4 HDDs and 2 Optical drives, I don't think that will help, but still....

That's probably the cause then. All those components generating heat that struggle to get out. Still it will keep your room warm in the winter months.

Oh definately, no need to have the heating on in that room. I think though a new case is in order, arguably a new PC really. AGP cards have died a death now PCI-E is going full swing and I'm sure the card I've got now doesn't really cut it with the latest game offerings.....I don't know how I'll be able to justify the expenditure to my fiancee...any ideas?

Just be honest about it and tell her that you love The PC more than you love her.

Cheers, Slipstreem.

System specs: "Phoenix" - Intel C2D E4500 overclocked to 3GHz with ACF7Pro HSF on Volt-modded ASRock 775Dual-VSTA mobo (modded BIOS rev 3.10A and VNB=1.65, Vagp=1.8), 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 RAM (3.0,3,3,8,1T @546MHz), Sapphire ATI HD3870 512MB GDDR4 PCIe graphics card overclocked to 850MHz GPU & 2.4GHz RAM running Omega drivers. Powered by Hiper Type-M 580W PSU. Guess who likes overclocking on a budget.
