Ok.

So i currently I'm using a free BT voyager modem i got with my connection a LOOOOONG time ago after my netgear router stopped working...

My mum, being the mother she is, wants to be all technologically advanced and all that shiz, and wants to connect wirelessly on her PC...I, however, have an unhealthy addiction to final fantasy XI online, i want to be on a wired connection.

So, we come to a crossroads, i need a router for under £60 that will perform well for my wired connection needs..And the "old bag" (I am smiling as i write this) wants a router that she call be all wirelessly advanced with, and that has a wireless USB adapter with it, because this old desktop PC hasn't got any wireless capability at the moment.

We haven't got any kind of technology for wireless at the moment, ie; no modems, no routers, just a little blue box that has one USB port and one ADSL port. Our AOL connection is 2.2mbps, and i do have some belkin crossover and LAN cables i can re-use.

Can any of you help us?

Buffalo WBMR-KG54 Wireless ADSL 2+ Router w/Wireless USB Adapter £55 at broadbandbuyer.co.uk

I've used them many times, but not on AOL.
I believe all you have to do is use your user ID and password as normal in the ADSL set up though.

John Barry is your man on the AOL side of it.

EDIT - review on Amazon fom someone who has used this router and AOL http://tinyurl.com/53s8qm

"I bought this to replace the modem AOL had sent out as I was wanting wireless networking in the house. It was extremely easy to set up. Within 5 minutes I had my PC connected via ethernet cable and my laptop connecting via wireless."

Yes it is, the comment you were looking at is 15 months old!

Drivers for the USB device are here http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads/wireless-g-keychain-usb-20-adapter/
They were released a year ago so I expect they are "in the box" by now.
You don't need "drivers" for the router as it's connected by ethernet.
You configure it using your browser.

I have no problems using Wireless and gaming online.

I usually have one of the better pings on the MMMugs server (generally only beaten by Nolan)

The only thing you may have to change that is specific to AOL is the router's MTU setting. The default is something like 1492, but some routers need you to change it to 1400. Don't know what difference it makes, but I had trouble connecting until I changed that on mine
