Hi All
Iam currently having problems sharing across two machines on wireless, my lappie/desktop. They are both running vista ultimate on a bt voyager 2091 i can connect to the lappies shared files on my desktop but on the lappie in network places i see the desktop but get the cannot connect message with you don`t have permissions to connect contact admin. I have file sharing turned on both machines and in the network and sharing centre and ruled my firewall out by disabling it with no connection still possible so any help would be a massive help cos the desktop is the one i need to connect with from the lappie just my luck.

Thanks for the reply marc.
and the answer to your question is yes the desktop is switched on when trying to access it from my laptop. Any ideas this is starting to bug me now as its the desktop that holds all the stuff i need to access, its always the way with computers nothing ever goes to plan. As iv`e mentioned i can access the laptop from the desktop machine and have checked all the settings are the same on the laptop as they are on the desktop. But i cant seem to get it to play ball still fingers crossed its a simple setting somewhere it`s finding which.

| Sounds like you have an incorrectly set up share or folder permissions. What you need to ensure is that your user account is the same on both machines (username or password) or you can specify the remote machines user/pw when going into the folder. You need to share the folder using file sharing and the easiest way of doing that is granting the everyone group full control. then you can right click on the actual folder and set the ntfs permissions appropriately.

if you can't get ur filesharing to work nicely you could do what i did and cheat by using Microsoft Foldershare it is currently in Beta but it works really well and has some useful automatic sharing and syncing options as well. https://www.foldershare.com/clientdownload.aspx also if ur transfer rates are slow turn of QoS on ur network adapters properties and on ur router and anywhere else u can think of.Tatos
