Is there a way of retrieving an Outlook Express address book from a HDD with a Windows install that is damaged?
I will connect as a slave to try and save some documents, which I have done before but I am not sure on the address book.
Thank you for any help.

You could try a search for *.wab and see if it finds it, but I'm not sure what the default location is

Thank you Tippon, I did the search but found nothing.
Good news is they think they have found the XP disc, so I should be able to do a Repair.

Edit to add I am a thickie.
Refined the search and found everything, moved all to a safe place.
Full credit will be given when they ask how it was done.
Certainly one to remember, thank you again.

Try searching for just wab (windows Address Book) and not *.wab ?

Bruce, have a look above, it worked

* is a wildcard, and will search for anything before the .wab Windows Address Book extension. Just using wab as the search term will bring up everything with wab anywhere in the name, most of which will be irrelevant

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but clarification avoids confusion

Hi Phitore
You are teaching me some new tricks, because I hadn't realized that Windows was now using a *.wab extension for its wab.exe shared Address Book. An old-fashioned DOS-like, inclusive file, it can simply be copied to archive different date and time Address Books.
Mind you I had missed 'refined the search' words after 'did the search but found nothing'.
Apologies for the pedantry.
