Well done, Im just wondering if the first stages of overclocking addiction are creeping in yet? Mine started with a small voice whispering "just a little more matt, just a little more" and i had nightmares involving vcore settings.

Im sure the voices will be whispering " 3.2Ghz " before to long.

Warm regards

I still get upset when I find the limit. Especially when you can boot into windows at set frequency but cannot get it stable and have to settle for a lower speed.

I have a Computer...

Try some MM Super Pi(e) here!

I agree, I have a situation on my E4500 where at 2.94Ghz the vcore is stable at 1.3500 in bios but at 3.0Ghz i have to set it to 1.3800, Its only a small increment but a large jump in vcore.

@Garyhopkin, you know you want 3.2Ghz.

warm regards

1.35Volts to 1.38Volts is only a 2% increase. That's hardly "large".

Cheers, Slipstreem.

System specs: "Phoenix" - Intel C2D E4500 overclocked to 3GHz with ACF7Pro HSF on Volt-modded ASRock 775Dual-VSTA mobo (modded BIOS rev 3.10A and VNB=1.65, Vagp=1.8), 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 RAM (3.0,3,3,8,1T @546MHz), Sapphire ATI HD3870 512MB GDDR4 PCIe graphics card overclocked to 850MHz GPU & 2.4GHz RAM running Omega drivers. Powered by Hiper Type-M 580W PSU. Guess who likes overclocking on a budget.

@Slipstreem, what i mean by large is the jump in vcore from instability to stability, It was stable at 2.83mhz at 1.330v, unstable at 2.94Ghz but stable at 1.3400, 2.97Ghz was unstable at this but was stable at 1.3500(still here?).
3.0ghz is not stable until 1.3800 so its this gap that i refered to as large.

I was not prepared to increase by three increments just to get an extra 3Mhz, I know what i mean.

hope this explains the meaning behind my post(even though it might be bumspeak)

Your like my old headmaster.

warm regards

Corrected.

If I'm not mistaken, the standard Vcore for the E4500 is 1.325Volts. Increasing this to 1.38Volts is still only a 4% increase. Most of my motherboards have suffered from more Vdroop than that.

Cheers, Slipstreem.

Not only corrected but pedanted at the same time, Its like playing trivial pursuit with Kim Peek.

Im well within my vcore limit and im happy with what i have, The more i think about it the more im realising that my issue was a "non" issue which did not warrant raising, so im gonna moonwalk slowly out of this forum and vow to make my posts as watertight as possible.

Thanks for the clip round the ear sir.

warm regards

At 1.4v [vcore] I can get up to 3.6ghz not noticed any real issues...rolled back to 3ghz to just to be safe and stock voltages

Did try to run at 3.7 but had to into the red on vcore and although system booted it soon locked up.... maybe ram needs boosting

well done for reaching 3 ghz over clocking is very addictive and I know you will soon want more :-)
