hey there,

I have a mini DV camcorder with an S-Vid out which i can connect to my graphics card (nvidia 7800gtx) via a cable that came with the graphics card: it has nine pins on a round end connecter where it goes in and the cable splits into S-vid in, S-vid out, Y out, Pr out, Pb in, comp in. So i just connected the s-vid in to the camcorder and the nine pins end into the graphics card and turned on the camcorder and played the recording.

trouble is, it's not being detected anywhere. i tried windows movie maker and Total media monitor but they don't detect it. can't find anywhere on my pc that activates that port either.

anyone have a clue?

I have xp home, nvidia control pannel and latest mobo and gpu drivers

Are you absolutely certain that the S-video socket on your graphics card is an input as well as the usual output? This should be confirmed by the term "VIVO" appearing somewhere in the spec for your graphics card.

Cheers, Slipstreem.

System specs:

"Phoenix" / "The '43' Special" - 1.8GHz Intel C2D E4300 overclocked to 2.83GHz with ACF7Pro HSF on Volt-modded ASRock 775Dual-VSTA mobo (modded BIOS rev 3.10A, VNB=1.65, Vagp=1.8), 1GB Vitesta DDR500 RAM (2.5,3,3,7,1T @ DDR472MHz), Jetway ATI X1950Pro 256MB GDDR3 PCIe graphics card with modded AC Accelero X2 cooler dynamically overclocked to 650MHz GPU & 1.5GHz RAM. Powered by Hiper Type-M 580W PSU. Guess who likes overclocking on a budget.

yep: says VIVO edition on the box. I'm just thinking that maybe it has to be activated somehow.
