| Well, according to this - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/07/11/amd_write_offs/ - they are in a bit of trouble... According to what I know about the hardware market, specifically what AMD have just launched (4Xxx GPU's) and the fact you can get a complete system basis from one supplier (chipset, CPU, GPU), I would think now would be a perfect time to buy their shares, seeing as they are at such a low ($5)... It feels to me very much as if you had the opportunity to buy into Apple during their lean years, with big things to come from AMD. They won't be allowed to go out of business, someone would buy them if it came to that. Thoughts please!

| what worries me if they did go out business and im sure they wont, but all we would have left is intel and Nvidea a complete monopoly of the processor and graphics card market. I was never completely happy with the amalgamation of Ati/Amd especially as amd have done so poorly in the market in recent months, it seems its the ati side thats holding them up. Life as a computer geek would be boring without amd/ati, i hope they can sort themselves out long term.
