Have you cleared the junk out of start-up items? Easier than delving into services.

Intel e7200 @ 4.0GHz (4.16GHz SP) Lapped
Asus P5E-VM
4Gb Patriot Pc6400 4-4-4-12
250Gb Samsung Spinpoint
Sapphire ATI 3870/Akasa Vortexx Neo
Enermax 600 Watt PSU
Ubuntu/Win XP
All in a Thermaltake Handbag...

The worst offendors are the programs that load themselves on start-up. Check them off on Msconfig.

Services must be set to manual via services.msc, msconfig disables them totally and if the system needs it, can't start it.

However, disabling services doesn't improve start-up times a huge amount. The time vs benefit, is minimal. However, feel free to try. It's always fun to play with things

(well....when you know what your doing )
