I have just installed mandrake 9.2, the installation was fine & all my hardware was detected. The problem I have is that I can't connect to the internet, during set-up my adsl modem was detected (it is a sagem fast 800) but I now need to install the software driver I obtained from the sagem website, the problem I have is that the instructions that came with the driver make no sense at all. There must be an easier way to install the drivers than typing in commands. Please bear in mind that I am a complete novice when it comes to Linux therefore any help would be very much appreciated.
See what you mean about the instructions on the sagem site! You'll need to include kernel-source and gcc-cpp with your Mandrake install. If you have not done that, you will need to use the Mandrake Control Centre to add them to your setup. If kernel-source is not on your disks (I know with Mandrake 9.1 it is on disk 3, but I have heard that it is not on the 9.2 download set) you will have to go into Windows and search it out and download it. You will also have to download the Sagem file. I suspect that you probably need to have the kernel-source present for the instructions (which you should print) in the Sagem help file to work. Once you do that, you have to just follow them line by line. You don't need to understand what's going on, just to do it. It might then be best to ask specific questions about what parts of the instructions you don't understand.
