getting back to topic- I'm struggling getting my quad stable at 3.0GHz in the p5n-e sli. Now there are a couple of issues straight off- firstly I've rolled back the bios to version 0608 as this is the only one that is any good for o/cing the quads.
I'm now running 2 executions of dual core orthos with processor affinities set. timings have been slackened right down for ram, its running at its rated 800MHz timings at 667MHz, fsb speed 333MHz unlinked.
It boots. not stable- increase Vcore from auto to 1.313
orthos runs for 43mins and then rounding error
I then increase vcore again- and its now bluescreening 5-10 minutes in. i reduce vcore, increase vram from auto to 1.92. same as before. reduce vram, increase vNB from auto to 1.38, same as before.
I set everything back to auto, Vcore up quite a bit (to 1.350V) POST but no boot. reduce to 1.33, and it boots, currently running 24mins in stable so far.
my question- I'm using small FFTs (most stress on cpu) - what is the most likely candidate for the bluescreens? I'm guessing not enough Vcore is the most likely explaination of rounding errors. single core temps are showing a max of 65C, motherboard at 46C. and my quad is a B3 stepping, not the less power hungry G0. any ideas?
