Subject: FW: BIG VIRUS COMING!!!!

>

Hi All, I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up

for this virus!

I checked Snopes (URL above, and it is for real!!

Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any

message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,'

regardless of who sent it to you.

It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the

whole hard disc C of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail

address in his/her contact list.

This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your

contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to

receive the virus and open it.

If you receive mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you

by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified

by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no

repair yet for this kind of virus.

This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc,

where the vital information is kept.

COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS. REMEMBER:

IF YOU SEND IT TO THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US

Regards
Barry Rostron

I have a rule - that any email that tells me to forward it to as many people as possible or to family and friends is a DOS (Denial Of Service) email at least and as with this one, probably has something more sinister to offer too. The aim of a DOS attack is to grind the internet to a crawl while the whole world panics and forwards on the email. NEVER forward any emails like this mate, you are just sucking up bandwidth for everybody. Just stick it in the bin and verbally tell all your mates not to forward them too. If you have auto updating virus software and install all your Windows Updates, you are as protected as you can be, so it irrelevant if a new virus it doing the rounds anyway!

It's just chain mail, that one has been on the go for a while now.
BTW the link appears to be genuine (I fear no viruses! )

don't worry mitch I see this sort of thing on face book all the time (and I spend the rest of that time explaining to my friends how they have been suckerd! ) I just wanted to be sure that it was a fake and that it is`nt in its self a perpetrator of malware (or a ruse to some)

It doesn't matter either way mate. You clearly know your onions and have your PC updated. Never forward something that tells you to. Everybody should have their PC's updated if they have genuine windows and avast.

Avast is an anti virus software package, it has a good free edition like AVG and Avira so is fairly popular.

Dammit!
Just beaten to it by Mitch
