The link doesn't work, but by the look of the url it's about applications becoming browser based?

I spend most of my time at work looking at the front end of Oracle databases through a browser.
I'm also using Google apps more to do my private stuff.

Link work much better without the two 'v's at the end.

I prefer desktop programs. I've never used Google docs and much prefer the control I have over my own programs. It's just the way I do things. Yes, admittedly I get bitten by compatibility issues at times (I use Office 2007 thanks to the student deal but now I'm working, at work they use 2003!) so I can see the benefit of online programs but for security and piece of mind, I'd prefer the software on my machine.

If anything, a home server, that had the applications on and I ran thin clients would be enough, in fact I'd quite like that idea but having the server in someone else's hands I'm not a fan of.

I prefer to use applications installed to the PC, that way I can hopefully avoid any browser application future lock in attempts, should they arise.
