Hi all,
I hope I can explain this so that it makes sense!!
A friend at work had constructed a word document and then printed it out. Somewhere along the line he must have pressed a key that changed the opening of Word. Because now whenever he opens Word he gets the same document showing instead of a blank new document. If he clicks on 'New Document' it comes up with.... you guessed it, the original document. The only way he can get rid of it is to delete everything on the pages and then carry on as normal, until the next time!
I have done a search for all the named docs and then deleted them all, restarted the computer but although there is no sign of the files it still comes up with the pages at the opening of Word.
Any help would be appreciated :

He basically overwritten Normal.dot which is the basic document template. Can't remember which directory its in but just search for it. Open it and blank it, save it and then close it. Fixed.

open word
tools -> options -> file locations -> move the user templates one to something like c:/folder name
then restart word it should create a new normal file there
alternatively the lactation already entered will be where the normal.dot can be found delete it and start up word
i would remove the original one

Many thanks, VFM and Alex. I'll give it a go tomorrow.
