Well I have a range of sand papers the most important ones being the 600 and 1200 grit. I am going to lap both the IHS of the e7200 and the cooler. I'll try and post some pics as it goes and see what the result is after. 
Base temps under load (Gaming) have been around 78 degrees. (One core is always a few degrees cooler due to airflow too).
Hope to loose about 10 degrees...And not trash a PC...

Get some 1500 and 2000 grit too...
Who needs a shaving mirror when you have a lapped CPU and heatsink eh?

Thanks. I have done heat sinks before but not a cpu. In the old days people used to lap socket A cpu dies!!!

| Good luck Wiz, I bottled out of lapping mine so good luck to you. Ive got an idle temp of 50 degrees with my E8400(oops)

Well both the cpu and the cooler were concave. After a good lapping of both I have lost about 5 degrees...Not ground breaking.
Need to pick the new G card cooler up today hopefully that will lake it a little cooler in there too. 
Edit: Ok with my little reduction in temps I have bumped it upto 4Ghz with 1.4v under load. 84 degrees under load. That'll do.
