On my pcs 2665 units are fragile and suffer from EUEs whereas most other units complete ok.  I have effectively lost one pc's output for the last week or so as all 4 windows based smp pcs have experienced at least one failure as indicated below.  The unit will not re-start so I have to delete the work folder and queue and unitinfo files in an attempt to get a new unit and even then can end up with the same unit downloaded again.  All pcs are running Windows XP and Win 32 x86 version of folding; and are not overclocked in any way.

Does anyone experience the same problem and / or have any advice??

Thanks

Shunter

the reason you get the same wu is the assignment server thinks you are dumping wu's because it ain't seen the eue . Far better to download and run qfix that will allow the partial wu to be sent and may help flag up bad wu's.

Take a look here and read all 7 pages, then make your choice.

I may use 1 Ubuntu in VMWare, go back to the old 5 client or just run GPU on two cores. Hopefully this client will be sorted out soon.

i personally think  that its down to a top secret conspiracy that Chris has entered into with the client programmers to maintain his no 1 spot .

Cheers,

Keith.

Thanks, gents, for the info and the long, long read!!!!    That's some forum - a bit blunt at times .

I'm not sure about running qfix so will sleep on it tonight but prefer reinstalling 5.91/2 until this is sorted out as, typically, today one pc has lost 19 hours of folding before I spotted the EUE.  I cannot afford to lose that much time, leccy and points, especially if I want to overtake Chris before tcavanagh races in and steals that coveted No 1 spot.  SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) wants me banished to MAMBA, which I understand is a wild part of the northern Scotland or, at the very least, the pcs stuffed in the garage out of the way as she thinks the delta, gamma, x and all other sorts of rays are dangerous to her health so life is already getting difficult trying to sort that out - although it might give me the opportunity to set up a semi hidden "farm" - out of sight is out of mind.   One of the guys in that forum link seemed to have about 12 Q6600s and even more GPUs so goodness knows what his leccy bill is like.

Anyway re that No 1 spot; I reckon Chris has left something in reverse and will turn on some form of turbo charge on Hogmanay this year just to spike my guns (sorry, couldn't resist that one) as according to EOC I am due to catch him on 02/01/09

Thanks again for the research

Chris did link to a fix see here

http://forum.micromart.co.uk/Topic304761-52-1.aspx

As for the other forum they are very serious, if you read deeper it seems that most farms are at their work place (my impression) and yes some do have a few quads folding.

Hope this helps you catch up with Chris, I think I catch you in 5 months

Thanks for the link.

Last night the stats from Kakao and EOC were showing me just pipping you to the number 1 spot before giving it up to you but not today - looks like about 4.5 months until you pass me.  That's some motoring.  Take care and good luck
