nice bit of kit.

I stuck it on a couple of our laptops a couple of weeks ago to see how it performs.

Not 100% convinced it is "better" than the latest version of AVG (which I dislike anyway). Our RootHash test (a commercial security monitoring test we are developing) shows AVG as 93.24% successful and Rising as 87.6% (those are GOOD figures btw) on otherwise identical semi-secure (ESR80% secure) systems (basic firewall + default rules, attached to a WEP wireless network etc.).

However that said it is a lot less hungry than AVG and the lappies (used as network sniffers) are running a lot more smoothly (we were previously running w/o an active virus checker because they just held them back too much).

Cheers,
Tom

Can anyone list what Rising installs as services? My Msconfig has added a Rising start-up entry, but no services have been installed. Wondering if I can add them manually.....

TIA

Thanks CC. I'll have a go at adding them into the service list. I was trying to install it onto Windows Server 2008, but it failed to do that for some reason (most likely it's only free to personal users and detects Server 2008 as a corporate OS).

i have just removed it from all of my computers and gone back to AVG free, why? well i was downloading files onto my desktop for my laptop scanning then as i went with rising but all clean put them across onto laptop which i have AVG on and for some reason scan again and it found 2 threats.

little disappointed but figure there will always be one or two that one picks up and the other does not so let it slide, however so far today i have have 8 files that rising has not detected and AVG has

so damage checking time running a full scan with AVG and so far its found another 1 but only been going for 10 mins

both where fully updated when scanning

edit:
2.5 hours and its done with 49 infections !!!!
