Tiscali supply a cd with the modem/router. I've run this on the first pc (running vista) and have an internet connection.
However, I've failed to get the 2nd pc (running XP) connected. I've tried the "add a pc" feature on the cd, but it seems to be exclusive to wireless. I've confused myself looking at guides, and now wonder if I have to "set up a network" to basically share this router between two pcs, hardwired using the ethernet ports? Can anyone offer a push back in the right direction? I'm not really bothered about the two pcs seeing one another, but assume this'll be a product of getting them connected correctly. I really just want them to both bea able to connect to the internet independently.

I have Be, they use the same Speedtouch 585, and I have three pc's connected, via the router, and the wireless disabled.

Thanks for your effort nightlight. I followed the tiscali link, and had a look around too. I'm finding it all a bit too general though eg. (in answer to the knowledgebase question: can i install tiscali broadband on another pc - "Setting broadband routers up is usually a straight-forward process too. Most will automatically detect the necessary settings, and they will usually set up your home network for you too."  Yeah, great...now, how!?
Afraid to say I've already got the st585 user guide and haven't found a single thing that helps me to understand the "installation process". I've no doubt it's straightforward, I'm just having the sort of brain ache that's quite typical for my non-neurotypical mind (AS) 
Anyway, I'll get there in the end...at least I now know I don't need to use the ms network connection wizard

| You shouldn't need to install anything. Just plug an ethernet cable into the router and put the other end in the PC.
That's all there should be to it.

| I'm not entirely sure that I understand your problem - is it that the second connection doesn't work, or are you trying to network across the two modem ports? The second option may not work on your hardware, and you then need a switch on your primary port. If its the first then it sounds like the second port may be faulty, can you just change ports on your primary pc and try to browse the net?

Sorry, I haven't explained very well.
Two pcs:
1 vista
1 xp
Both were using an adsl modem (sagem 800) for a tiscali supplied connection. At one point they both happily shared this modem (by switching the cable of course!). The xp machine finally won favour as it always connected to the internet, the other was temperamental following a few vista upgrades. So a speedtouch 585 was bought 2nd hand. I used the tiscali cd (which handily came with the router) and this modified the settings/installed(?) to enable connecting to the internet using the router rather than the usb modem.
Trying to do the same on the xp machine, at the final stage of the set-up (from the cd) an error states it can't find the router. Maybe it is the port, I'll try one of the remaining 2.
From the initial replies, maybe I shouldn't even be trying to install the cd on the 2nd machine?

Once the router is working no further install is required on any subsequent computer!
It's a plug and go. There is no complications more than that.
If one machine isn't working there is something else wrong with that computer that's messing up it's networking.
