I have a presently non-overclocked 2400+ running on a A7N8X-E Deluxe. In Asus Probe the CPU is reported as running at 2GHz, as it should. But then it also says that the maximum speed is 3GHz. Does this mean that this is the maximum speed to which I can overclock it or is it actually a better CPU sold as a cheaper one? (I'm being optimistic, I know)
i have the same mobo as you but with an XP 1800 and asus probe says that my max speed is also 3000Mhz, despite it being a palmino and currently running at 1533Mhz interesting to find out what the max speed represents
Id guess that the 3Ghz bit is reporting the max speed available for the Barton architecture (although XP3200 is the best i think). Id forget about even getting close to 3Ghz - Palamino owners can get an extra 100-200Mhz, TbredA can just about scrape a top speed of 1.9Ghz, TbredB might reach 2.3-2.4Ghz at a push with some serious cooling
