Chap I know who lives round the corner gave me his old PC as he wanted a laptop and his old one didnt work, he told me. As a side note a few moths ago I replaced the PSU which went in a bad way, if you know what I mean but all the other hardwear survived.
Anyway its about 600mhz celeron. Compaq.
I turned it on and boy was it a mess. Took forever too boot and then you couldnt do anything with it. Loads of bad stuff on it, riddled with disease. For some reason he had AVG 7.1 not 7.5 running on it and I know I had made sure he was running and up to date on everything when I changed the PSU as he only has a dial up. So I would have given him 7.5 or maybe 8 back then.
Formatted and installed 2k and then had to put it away as we had lots of stuff going on around the house. Today I got round to turning it back on again to do the updates and so on. And it took an age to get into windows and then an explorer window opened up and started serching for stuff, well stuff was being typed in the box. Stuff this malarkey I thought (especially as I had plugged the network cable in) and I hit the power button!
Any ideas?
