hi guys
after looking at this weeks group test i'm quite interested in either the advent 4211 or elonex webbook but i'd like xp and i'd like good battery life. i have been looking and the msi wind is said to be getting a 6 cell long life battery instead of the 3 cell currently available in the advent/msi
do i go for the advent and get a bigger battery if needed or do i get the elonex (linux) and install xp on it
i think i'd prefere the advent as reviews say the atom is better than the C7, and also the advent has space for extra ram
what do you guys think ?
do any of you know of anything on the way that would be better?

if you have the extra £
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/146027

upto 8 hours battery life and has XP also 10" screen

there is a Linux version with a solid state hard drive available as well but you would have to install XP on it

If advent offered a linux version it would be the ideal netbook for me and the best of the bunch IMO however I use the webbook which is excellent. XP wise I'd have to agree with the review advent wins hands down and if like me every penny is a prisoner it makes sense.

I had a play with the WebBook (It's in Carphone Warehouse, at least in Redditch). Very nice unit, though I'd wait for it to drop in price.

I'm playing with an Elonex One T plus atm, as my dad has just had his order come through. It's a great buy, but I wouldn't suggest it for this category, yet.

i have had a look at the EEEPC1000 and
"The battery will only last 8 hrs if you make extensive use of the Super Hybrid Engine"
http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1474/5/asus_eee_pc_1000h_under_the_covers/index.html
and as far as i can see it only has space for one lot of RAM. does a extra GB of ram make that much difference to the performance of XP?
the asus certainly looks the nicest of the 3

it will run on 1 GB no problems

but if you want more you should be able to upgrade it to 2GB for about £20-25
