Right so you want to get rid of all the old modem sotware and drivers then??

If that is right then follow these steps

1) Go into control panel and open up system properties

2) Remove the offending drivers (virtually the same way as in XP)

3) Back to control panel and open Program properties.

4) Remove the offending software (virtually the same way as in XP)

I must ask, are you connecting to the wireless router wirelessly or through a Cat 5 cable??

Edit:Frickin spelling

Just to add to the good advice you have received, there are a couple of things which can bite you in the bum.

a) NEVER remove a device from your system without first right-clicking its entry in device Manager and selecting Uninstall. If you do remove it, then the driver won't uninstall later. Put the device back then do the right-click etc. You can do a 'show hidden devices' but its quicker for me to tell you to put the device back and try again!
b) Vista keeps a cache of driver locations, and it won't abandon it even if it becomes corrupt. The symptoms for this are that it will say it can't find a driver even when you know its there. If this happens you need to clear the cache by going to c:\Windows\Inf and deleting a file called INFCACHE.1 there is a chance it won't let you. If you do get this problem come back to the forum. Don't delete this unless you think the cache is corrupt. When you have deleted the cache uninstall the obsolete driver and install your new driver(s).
c) UAC - I assume you are not having access problems because you are not the Administrator.
