Same PC, self-built, costs £342 at Ebuyer. The Aldi isn't badly priced, I guess, but it's no bargain.

Jason (25/09/2008) Same PC, self-built, costs £342 at Ebuyer. The Aldi isn't badly priced, I guess, but it's no bargain.
Remembering that the Aldi PC will be a working motherboard, but nothing special in any way. The motherboard you used Jason, a good one or one that will get the job done?

Nothing wrong with it for a budget build. Solid, modern chipset. No clocking options on the cheap ones, of course.

| The ASUS P5N-MX (£34) does overclock, according to this guy on Newegg http://tinyurl.com/459zw5 "Ran E2200 up to 3.2GHz from 2.2 and stable at 3.1 using Vista x64. No problem running 800 OC as the board states. Currently pushed it further to 825MHz at 4-4-4-12 CR2 with a kingston stick." "Limited overclocking options far from the big guns of ROG boards. No voltage controls for CPU and RAM." So 1.8V memory then (DR) "A disastrous 0607 bios update from Asus may leave you with a long beep after restarting. " Not tried one myself as I think the better features of the Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H is worth the extra £8.
