I agree with Dave. In fact, I've ended up binning all of my Belkin VGA cables over the years due to poor image quality and/or mechanical failure of the cable itself where it enters the plugs. My last few have all been the amazingly cheap Plexus jobs from Ebuyer, and the 5metre Plexus VGA to VGA cable (£2.99 including VAT) I'm currently using with the 32" display provides a clarity that I doubted was possible via an analogue monitor link, especially one this long.

Even if the Plexus cables do fail earlier (and I see no reason why they should as it's a fixed installation in my case) at least they work properly while they are working and for a fraction of the cost.

Cheers, Slipstreem.

System specs: "Phoenix" - Intel C2D E4500 overclocked to 3GHz with ACF7Pro HSF on Volt-modded ASRock 775Dual-VSTA mobo (modded BIOS rev 3.10A and VNB=1.65, Vagp=1.8), 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 RAM (3.0,3,3,8,1T @546MHz), Sapphire ATI HD3870 512MB GDDR4 PCIe graphics card overclocked to 850MHz GPU & 2.4GHz RAM running Omega drivers. Powered by Hiper Type-M 580W PSU. Guess who likes overclocking on a budget.

Hi I notice the Currys £44.99 Belkin USB Cable isn't available for 'reserve and collect' only home delivery.

I guess if was available for reserve and collect then Currys would have to display it in their shops, and they've sensibly decided not to do that in order to stop crowds of shoppers just going into their stores in order to stare in total disbelief and amusement.

I found out about it in store. My dad was chatting to the guy about Cameras and I noticed it round the corner. I mentioned it to my dad as we walked past it, and the guy heard. He agreed, silly money.

Can you honestly blame Belkin for pricing like this, though?

When compared to places such as eBuyer, CCL, Aria etc, then maybe, you could. But in places such as PC World etc where these tend to be the only products of that type on sale, they've got that little market by the balls. It's their prices or no cable.

That reeks of clever market sense to me

Absolutely right. And i'll bet our ten consecutive two quid cables outlast the one expensive Belkin equivalent for twenty any day.

Had a Belkin USB extension cable unopened in a drawer for ages. When I did get round to using it, I burnt out two 1GB pen drives before I noticed the smell and the smoke! The crosswired cable was feeding current down the data connection. This was back when 1GB drives were £25 plus. Not happy!

YOU SHOULD SEE THE PRICE OF MEMORY.  £40 FOR A 1GB STICK OF DDR2 667MHZ.  ARIA DO A SIMILAR PRODUCT FOR £7.  I MUST SAY THOUGH THAT MAPLIN DO SOME FAIR PRICED PSU'S  I BROUGHT 700WATT PSU FOR £70.  YOU MIGHT THINK THAT IS A BIT STEEP BUT NOT WHEN YOU FIND IT IS 80+ CERTIFIED, VERY QUIET AND FITTED WITH MODULAR CABLES.  IT IS SLI CERTIFIED AND UP TO THE LATEST STANDARDS.  IT IS BRANDED AS ICUTE.

iCute PSUs are scarcely better than generic units. Certainly not a top brand or anywhere near it. £70 for such a PSU is outrageous -- you can buy them for half that at the likes of eBuyer. I wouldn't let a thing like that anywhere near a PC that required a decent amount of power. £70 should buy you a top-brand 700W PSU.

I guess this just proves everything that's been said in the thread already.
