Hi all.
I have done a stupid thing! (Okay, so it's not unusual!)
I tried to install Ubuntu onto a spare drive while I still had my main SATA drive plugged in. I'm not the first and I don't suppose I'll be the last, but that is no consolation
Anyway, the outcome is that I have had to reformat and repartition my 500Gb drive and lose everything on it (that will teach me!)
I have just tried to reinstall XP but it reports that there is only 131069Mb (127Gb) of partition and unpartitioned space on the computer.
I have already partitioned the drive to 50Gb, 100Gb, 100Gb, 100Gb, 100Gb, and 50Gb. (approx). The setup doesn't show this, only the 127Gb. I did an install earlier to see what happened and all I had showing was the 127Gb and no other drives in 'My Computer'.
I've disconnected both of my other drives so that there is only the SATA drive and the CD Rom drive conected.
If I connect the spare back-up with XP and go into 'My Computer' All the drives are shown correctly.
Any help would be apreciated!!

I think the best course of action will be to slipstream SP3 into XP, using nlite. It's very easy to do and will give you an XP that is fairly upto date already. What this also does is solve the limit of 127Gb that XP had before service packs fixed the problem.
Once you have an XP SP3 disc, it should let you carry on and see the full drive.
Good Luck

Hi Freakshow,
I'll give it a try. I have just re-re-formated and partitioned the drives again. They still all show up in 'my computer' and I'm able to copy and paste folders to them. I think that the last time I had the OS on the SATA drive I used an imaging prog to transfer it. But this time I'd like to do a clean install.
Thanks for your reply

What FS is trying to say is that only versions of XP SP1 or higher recognise in excess of the 127 Gb limit.
