Hey all.
Usually a bit of rumour doesn't need to be listened to and real results are what we wait for, but as this site can be seen to have had past successes in rumours (they were first to break the 800SPs story for ATI 48XX series).

Looks like AMD have sorted out their issues to an extent and can deliver parts that can hit 3.6GHz it seems. I think the 4.3GHz stuff may be cherry picked, but even so, it looks like AMD are about to take a step forward in the CPU market, having already taken a great one in the GPU stakes.
I doubt it's going to get the crown back, but it'll be right up there (I hope).
Interesting times ahead

Been a long time coming.
If it's that good, I hope they can produce enough to keep everybody happy.

Thought I'd just bump this info with the new info:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/10/07/amd_spilts_two/
AMD has finally announced the plan, that it will be splitting in to two comapnies. One for designing and the other for manufacturing.
Good or bad in your opinions?

I see Intel is now jumping up & down about AMD plans and the patents rights.
See link. http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idUSN0748080720081007
I reckon AMD new cpu is better than expected, and Intel is worried, as it's newest cpu Nelham as problems with DDR3 frying the cpu.

MartenReed (08/10/2008) If it clears their debt and gives them a fighting chance, then I'm all for it.
Will ATi still be part of AMD, and just left to its own devices? They're really putting the heat on nVidia!
People need to stop thinking of AMD and ATI as separate. It's going to be designing chips is one company, and the other is the production side.
Foundry, the new chip manufacturer will take contracts from anyone. ATM they can only manufacture CPUs but if you read here, you can see that they hope to soon be able to manufacture GPUs aswell, possibly more.
Afaik, the contract between Intel and AMD with x86 technology isn't that public, but I'd think that some bright spark at AMD did check that this could be done. Whatever happens, it's not like Intel are going to be able to block AMD making chips. They need AMD in the market so that they don't have a monopoly on the market. Considering AMD don't have that much money going spare aswell, it's not like Intel are going to get Compensation or something.
