what client ?? there is an option on the standard client to start as a service and on shutdown it will close properly, failing that control c will close the clients properly

It's much like the GUI (no longer available?)

once you startup your rig (it doesn't start) go to All Programs / Folding @ Home X86 / F@H Icon and release. it shoots to the taskbabar and starts working.

It may be best to go to the FAH icon right click & select copy, then go to programs / startup (right click) select open right click and paste. This will paste the F@H icon in the startup which in turn will start each time you start your rig.

When you shut down your rig, it seems to safely stop folding. However you can right click on the taskbar F@H Icon and select quit. Also in there you can configure it, ie user name team passkey, although at this stage you don't need a passkey. If you havent set up user name & team number then you are folding for a anonymous.

Edit:

By the way it won't show a interface like the GUI or the console version it just sits in the taskbar. you may do better with the console version and you can keep track of progress etc.

Thought I'd ask in this thread rather than start a new one.

I'm using the system tray client, running on one core. since I cant get the smp client to run (I've followed guides and no luck it just wont work) so I've been wondering would I be able to run two system tray clients, plus the gpu2 client I'm already running on my 8800gt ?

or would the extra work slow my machine down too much?

thanks

it would probably slow the gpu client right down. And don't worry my new SMP install grabbed a uniprocessor WU

My E2140 and 8800GT are currently running one standard client and the GPU client. The standard client is using 100% of one core, but the GPU is only using 30 - 40% of the other core. As the standard client is finishing with weeks to spare, I may try running another standard client, but setting the CPU usage to about 50% to use those spare cycles

My computer runs 24/7 and I get enough time during the start of the week to monitor it, so don't worry, no late WU's here!
