Is there any way to mount my partitions at boot-time in Ubuntu? I have a couple of partitions (one for Windows, and one for Storage) that i'd like to be available on startup. At the moment they are listed in the Places menu but aren't mounted until i click them.

I think this is what you are after (for the windows partition at least)
You can add entries to the /etc/fstab file but the above method is all done in the GUI
Edit; typos :S

I find that the fourth item of Basil's link is THE way to go, ie Add 'NTFS Configuration Tool' to Applications, System Tools by Adding from Applications Add/Remove or by Synaptic Search etc for ntfs-config. After you have run the tool and selected the relevant partitions and Read/write etc, your decisions will get remembered and 'drive' icons will reappear on your desktop.
(Edit PS - By 'permanently' remembering mounted 'drives', packages will also remember links to data, like Amarok FF remembering where its MP3s and Album Covers are.)

Ah that's the beastie. I knew a GUI config tool existed but just needed the name of the thing so i could get it done. Not a big fan of editing fstab if i can help it.
Thanks very much Basil and Bruce
