I like to be able to use an OS, and not vice versa. I originally started experimenting with Linux when i became aware of the various ways Windows "phones home". Then WGA pushed me over the edge, and i was adopted into a community that just seemed altogether more honest and up front. Now i have a token XP installation for the purpose of the odd game.
It's no secret that i occasionally bash Windows without prior provocation. But i'm a big football fan and where i come from bashing the opposition (especially local rivals) is a tremendous source of entertainment.

Why does a certain type of Windows user seem to permanently seek out and attack every post about Linux software, and attempt to twist the story in such a way as to denigrate Linux users, and to use this twisted logic to somehow attempt to promote Windows?
Many of us are multi-O/S users and on the whole are pretty accepting and tolerant of the failings and shortcomings of both O/S's, but for some reason some Windows evangelists take every opportunity to rubbish Linux, whilst apparently remaining oblivious to Windows problems and prepared to argue to the death with anyone who dares to challenge their view (and again the argument frequently takes the form of further slagging off of Linux and its users)
Is it paranoia? inferiority complex? self agrandisment? fear of competition?
Why?
Flamebait, I know, just couldn't resist
Thing is, it isn't one way.
Where else but a Linux forum can you say "I like Linux" or "I think Windows is rubbish", and expect to find people who agree with you?
There are bigots on both sides.
I remember a recent flamebait post which highlighted a particularly sad and puerile anti-Linux rant , and several Windows users popped up and said things like "he had a point" .
EDIT: note I said "users" NOT "fanboys"
