| I've read the FAQ pages, but have one important query. Can I install Ubuntu, then use it to install XP Pro afterwards? I need this setup on a dual boot basis, not on a virtual machine. If I can then how do I do this?

If you are trying to create a dual boot system from a clean HDD, then you want to install XP first and then install Ubuntu afterwards.
If you install the other way round then it will not let you choose which OS you want at boot.

It can be done Ubuntu first, but it's far easier to install Windows first.
Saves having to reinstate the Linux bootloader after Windows wipes it out during it's installation.
