hey all i have put ubuntu onto my desktop to play with however i want to move the 'home' folder to another drive so if anything goes wrong i wont lose anything how to i go about doing this?

and how can i mount drive automatically?

Places > Home > File System > double click on Home folder then right-click on the user's folder to be copied then paste it into the drive you want it to go to.

I'm not sure but think it may baulk at having a windows file system.

One way to find out is give it a go.

Fat32 should be fine as Linux has native support for it, NTFS I'm not sure about, so long as you have the required ntfs-3g etc. packages installed it might work.

You can make Windows work with ext2 and ext3: http://www.fs-driver.org/
