If anything it's more brown.

It's brown Actually the wallpaper's not bad.Runs very quickly off the Live CD and printing is there by default - God knows why it's not on Mandriva 2009. Will try it on the Acer 5315 lappie tonight as I am having real problems with printing on that.

Yes, the fastest live CD I've used.
Fine on my lappy, just hope it doesn't have to many ATI problems and works on at least one of my desktops.
Edit - Ugh, crashed when trying to install ATI drivers. Aint got any more time to play around with it now, frustrating.
Phil.

I eventually downloaded a LiveCD, but it's bad news for my [A] and [B] rigs I'm afraid, so I can now empathize with all the folk who had hardware-related problems with Ubuntu 7.10 whilst my since demised [C] rig was perfectly happy.
I can't even load an Intrepid LiveCD session on my [B] rig, whilst it takes about four minutes to load on my [A] rig, where Shutdown or Restart takes even longer. Actual installation on my [B] rig is possible and once loaded, packages work quite well and fast, but I can only Shutdown or Restart by turning off the PC. In this respect the formal release is worse than the Beta Release Candidate, which in turn was worse than the Alpha-6 release. At this rate I'll be using Ubuntu 8.04.1 or Mint5 for a long time, whilst checking out Mandriva 2009 and periodically re-visiting Ubuntu 8.10.

The live CD won't work in my rig, so I am not going to try to install. I will have to re-install 8.04.1 until they sort things out.
EDIT/UPDATE.
Did a very slow burn, but still no joy.
Tried again in "safe graphics mode" and it seems to be working, I will be trying again over the weekend as I am away on Friday.
