Hi All,

I haven't got a 38xx or 48xx series ATI graphics card, but was considering a graphics card upgrade and wondered if the driver issues are now resolved with ATI cards?

The link to the download site for the latest driver is here:http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/linux/linux-radeon.html

Are any of you currently enjoying good graphics on Linux from an ATI 38xx or 48xx series card?

I haven't got it set up at the moment, but I did have Ubuntu 8.04 running ATI drivers just great. I just followed the instructions and all went well.

I did try Envy originally but that didn't work.

My Ubuntu 8.10 just crashed trying to install ATI drivers.
To early to say if it's a one off.
Will be trying on two ATI machines either tomorrow Saturday.

Phil.

My Asrock4core 1333 full HD is once again a problem. It will not install even though I thought this had been resolved.

On my Gigabyte, the installation is fine, but when I try to install the proprietary drivers for my HD 3450 it fails every time, can't enable any desktop effects, been looking around the net for a hour or so now and can't be bothered any more. I've wasted many days on these problems and refuse to spend the weekend searching dead ends.
Hope someone can give you better feedback with the cards you asked for.

Phil.
